Testing the signal communication to the Monitoring Station:

HOW TO TEST MY ALARM SYSTEM

Test Your Home Security System Today To Ensure A Safe Tomorrow
Periodic testing of your alarm system is essential to ensure proper functionality. We recommend testing your system monthly.

  1. Call the Central Monitoring Station and ask that your system be placed in “TEST” mode.  Make sure you have your monitoring account number and password ready. Contact our office for the phone number of the monitoring service if you do not already have it.
  2. Arm your system as usual, and set the alarm off by opening a door or window, or by tripping a motion detector. Allow the alarm to sound for at least 30 to 45 seconds.
  3. Disarm the system using your code.
  4. Wait one minute, then call the monitoring service to verify that the signal was received.
  5. Advise the Central Monitoring Station that you have finished testing.

This manual test ensures your alarm system is properly communicating with the Central Station. However, it is recommended you test all devices to ensure they are properly communicating with your alarm panel.

Testing all your security sensors

Testing the operation of all door and window sensors, and motion detectors:

  1. Verify that the system is in "READY" mode and NOT ARMED. The system must be disarmed to avoid accidental emergency dispatch.
  2. Open each protected door or window one at a time.
  3. Check that the keypad displays the door or window you are testing is open, you may have to press the "STATUS" or "READY" button depending on your type of system.
  4. Close the respective door or window. The keypad should revert to "READY" mode.
  5. Repeat this procedure for each sensor in the system.

As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call us at 985-345-9110 Don't have your monitoring service phone number? Call us and we will provide it for you.
